Hummingbirds from San Miguel de Allende

by Charles Cottle

For the past few weeks I have been in Mexico visiting my brother who lives here. I noticed that on his porch he had several hummingbird feeders that seemed to be pretty active. So, I decided to try to take a few photos of the hummingbirds. The only problem was that I did not bring a long lens with me so I improvised by putting a hummingbird feeder on a table and putting my camera on a small tripod a couple of feet away from the feeder. Then, using my telephone as a remote control to the camera I went about waiting for hummingbirds to show up. In the gallery below are a few results of this effort. Each of the shots was taken at either one 1/4000th or 1/5000th of a second. With minor exception all of the photos are straight out of the camera except for cropping.
