About

Charles in Beijing

Hi,

I’m Charles Cottle. I’m retired from teaching political science for 35 years at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I worked in university computing administration for eight years between 1995 and 2003, after which I returned to teaching on a full-time basis. On returning to teaching in 2003, I dedicated much of my time to developing faculty and student exchange opportunities, primarily in Mexico.

I enjoy photography, traveling, and reading, as well as spending time in conversation with friends and family. I have lots of opinions about lots of things. Sometimes I rant.

I live in Janesville, Wisconsin. We have pleasant summers, beautiful falls, and frigid winters. Spring is nice, but it’s only about seven days long, so it’s hardly worth mentioning. This is Green Bay Packer country. I enjoy sports, but I don’t follow them. This seemingly un-American trait (at least for males) cuts me out of many conversations. Perhaps those lost conversations have inspired me to start this blog.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find something of interest here.

Charles Cottle
